Obituary: TOMCC Club Patron John R. Nelson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of long time Club Patron John R. Nelson. John was a very active figure in the Club, attending almost all the Club AGMs during his time as Patron and was always happy to offer advice or attend events. He will be sorely missed within the Club.

John joined Triumph in 1950, being interviewed for the position by Edward Turner himself. During his time at Triumph John held a number of positions in the development and service departments, and senior roles with Norton Villiers Triumph and Steyr-Daimler-Puch (GB). His final role at Triumph was as the Managing Director of the Meriden Co-operative.

John was also the author of a number of definitive works on Triumph models. Specifically his 'Bonnie: The Development History of the Triumph Bonneville', 'Triumph Bonneville: Super Profile', and 'Triumph Tiger 100 and Daytona: The Development History of the Pre-Unit and Unit Construction 500cc Twins' were considered to be second to none.

John passed away on the 23rd September 2017.
