Spirit Motorcycles rider Alastair Seeley has just set a fastest lap in qualifying taking pole position for the teams Dickies BSB British Supersport Championship debut at Donington Park. An excellent effort for this Triumph engined machine in its first proper race outing.
Although the bike can't score any Championship points, they are taking part in the BSB Supersport racing as a proof of concept more than anything. The bike doesn't meet the BSB Supersport regulations. The bike is effectively a Moto 2 style machine with an engine from a Daytona 675 that has been breathed on quite extensively by T3 Racing. What it is hoped is that this will prove the concept and create a new Moto 2 style race series to help riders get into the Moto2 and MotoGP world championships.
Spirit Motorcycles is a collaboration between T3 Racing and Spirit of the Seventies. Both well respected motorcycle engineering shops with a strong bias towards Triumph. T3 Racing ran the Triumph Triple Challenge BSB support race series for many years until the Daytona stopped being supported by Triumph. Spirit of the Seventies have produced a number of stunning custom Triumph machines.
