According to the DVLA figures that is. The result is probably not at all surprising to anyone who has been following the bike market this year, and MCN have given the best-seller a massive thumbs up too. Based solely on how many have been registered in the UK we can reveal what sold the best from Jan to Jun.
In third place with 348 registrations was the Speed Twin. Now renamed to be the Speed Twin 1200 this is still Triumph's most popular modern classic machine. If you'er going to buy a modern classic then this is the best you can get for price and performance.
In second place with 589 registrations was the Trident 660. This was Triumph's best-selling model when it came out - supplanting the Street Triple 765RS at a stroke. If you want a nippy roadster to get about town then the Trident 660 absolutely nails it.
In first place with 653 registrations was the Tiger Sport 660. Triumph's new Sport version of the 660 - a mini adventure model - has proved a hit from day one. Combining the economy of the 660 with the go-anywhere attitude of the Tiger range has produced a bike that MCN crowned as 2022's bike of the year.
With the top four best-selling two-wheelers being Honda and Yamaha 125cc (or less) machines, the next three best-sellers for the first half of 2022 are BMW R1250s and the Royal Enfield Meteor. The Tiger Sport 660 follows those.
The statistics are no longer being correlated into a spreadsheet by the DVLA. In a bid to cut costs they are only now supplying the raw CSV data containing all vehicles.
