Brandon Paasch, riding for the TOBC Racing team, has won the Daytona 200 on a Triumph Street Triple 765 RS machine. He made all the right moves at the end of the race to cross the finish 0.007 ahead of the second place Petersen on a Yamaha. He also set the fastest lap of the race giving him a Rolex.
The winning machine is a race-tuned version of the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS with an added fairing. Effectively the same as the machines running in the British Supersport series and in Moto2. Yes, they do look a lot like Daytonas, but not enough 'Daytona' machines have been produced for homologation and it isn't where Triumph are going with the Daytona name.
This is Triumph's return to success since Danny Erlick won in 2014.
