This year the Club's AGM is on the 2nd April at the Old Grammarians Rugby Club, Sywell Road, Wellingborough, NN8 6BS. It is open to members of the TOMCC only (you will need to show your membership card). Read on if you are interested in getting involved in helping to run the Club or shaping its future.
Each year the TOMCC holds an Annual General Meeting to let its members know how the Club is doing and what its future plans are. This is also your chance to have a say about how it is run, ask a question about something, or volunteer to get involved. The AGM starts at 11am so you should try to get there for at least 10:30am.
However you don't have a lot of time - there is a cut-off date of the 14th January for any propositions and nominations to be received by the Club's General Secretary.
A Proposition is a request to change the Club Rules or for the Club to do something. It needs to be proposed and seconded by two individual Club Members, and obviously needs to detail what is being requested. Either the Proposer or the Seconder needs to be at the AGM to explain the request and take questions from the floor - just before the Proposition is voted on. You can send Propositions by e-mail to the Club's General Secretary giving the names, e-mail addresses, and Membership Numbers of the Proposer and Seconder.
A Nomination is a request to stand for a particular post on the Committee or for a non-committee post. It needs to be proposed and seconded by two individual Club Members who are not the person being nominated. Committee positions are: Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer, General Secretary, Events Coordinator, Merchandise Officer, Public Relations Officer, Membership Secretary, Editor. Non-committee posts are International Liaison Officer, BMF Representative, Archivist, Webmaster, Machine Registrar. The Nominee will need to be at the AGM to take questions from the floor before being voted for. You can send Nominations by e-mail to the Club's General Secretary giving the name, e-mail address, and Membership Number of the nominee, and the names, e-mail addresses, and Membership Numbers of the Proposer and Seconder.
There will be vacancies for Public Relations Officer and Merchandise Officer so if you've got an interest or knowledge of these sorts of areas we'd welcome some help. All committee positions are supported by the other committee members so you won't be dumped in the deep end - but it would be good if you have some knowledge or enthusiasm about the post you want to stand for.
However you don't have to raise a Proposition or Nomination to come along to the AGM. The more the merrier and we want your input to make this Club better than ever.
