With a total of almost 300 new members over the 9 days of the show, and loads of merchandise sold, the TOMCC Stand at the 2016 Motorcycle Live show at the NEC in Birmingham has proved to be an absolute success for the Club.
Such was the interest from the motorcycling public that the stand had already paid for itself in the first three days. The decision to put on a stand wasn't an easy one. We hadn't put one on at this scale before so we really didn't know what the level of interest would be, but we knew we had to have a presence there being one of the largest (if not the largest) one-make clubs in the UK (and possibly the world).
The other thing that looked like a possible problem was the lack of volunteers to man the stand, but the Club Committee members took it upon themselves to make sure there were at least four people on the stand for the entire 9 days. Major thanks must go to Ken and Jan Talbot who were on the stand continuously for the whole of the show, it would never have worked without that extraordinary level of commitment from the Chairman and Secretary. Thanks also have to go to Ivan Taggart, Mick Barratt, and Steve (Nora) Battye who also helped out on the days they were free - there were other unsung heroes and partners who also helped out.
Taking up a whole 3 spaces (27 square metres), it was the largest Club stand at the show and got an excellent position as a result (rather than being pushed to the fringes like the other Clubs). The large banners with the Club logo and the emblazoned merchandise showed off the Club's brand to full effect.
There will be a full report in Nacelle.
