Though it looks a lot more than a prototype in the videos. It was only a matter of time after the Tiger 900 range replaced the old 800s that the Tiger 1200s would also get the same treatment. The prototype looks the very image of what you'd consider an off-road capable Adventure bike would be.
This machine does not look big, and yet it is 1200cc. It is claimed to be lighter than the closest competition and you can see that. It has been designed with off-road performance in mind rather than just the styling. It isn't a single-sided swing-arm design. Ricky Carmichael likes it!
The Tiger 1200s have been the 'Sports Tourers' for many motorcyclists up to now, but this prototype does not look like the sort of machine you'd do several thousand miles on, two-up with luggage (or maybe that's the beauty of the new design). Possibly Triumph may be making a distinction between the Adventure bikes and the Sports Tourer versions so like there was a Tiger Sport 850 there may be a Tiger Sport 1200 on the horizon. Though it would be even better if there was a Sprint ST 1200 with the Speed Triple engine.
