Triumph secured their first win with their new Dynavolt race team in the Quattro British Supersport sprint race at Brands Hatch with Kyle Smith at his first time racing at the circuit. This is the first win for Triumph in the class for quite a while since they stopped production of the Daytona 675.
Smith was dominant in the sprint race on 25th July 2021 building up a gap of 1.5 seconds over second place, and though that lead was eaten away at by Jack Kennedy on a Kawasaki Smith had enough of a lead to win. The second, feature, race was stopped half-way due to rain and continued as a wet race with Kyle Smith bringing the Dynavolt Triumph home in a creditable second.
This is the first year that Triumph are competing with a factory team (Dynavolt Triumph) in British Supersport. The rules currently allow Moto2-spec machines as well as the typical 600cc machines in order to attract more manufacturers to take part (other than Kawasaki and Yamaha). The Triumph is a 765cc triple based on the Street Triple 765 RS to specific specifications and are part of an evaluation to determine how the class will develop (with Ducati entering a 955cc twin later in the season).
