The A2 Licence compliant machine continues to be a massive hit being the 7th best selling motorcycle and scooter overall in the UK for the period January to June of 2021. The Tiger 900 GT Pro continues to be the second most popular Triumph with the Street Triple RS getting the third spot.
The second quarter is usually the time when motorcycle sales peak and this year is no different with an increase in sales of the Trident of more than 20%. The Tiger 900 GT Pro and Street Triple RS almost doubled their sales in the second quarter. One machine that jumped up the sales charts was the Speed Triple RS which became available in the second quarter and became the fourth best selling Triumph.
So what sold better than the Triumph in the first half of 2021? Well the top four were all 125cc machines from Yamaha and Honda - three scooters and a learner legal motorcycle. The next two were both BMW R 1250 GS machines (the Adventure TE and standard TE). In fact the only other larger capacity machines above the Street Triple RS (17th overall) were the BMW S 1000 XR TE, BMW R 1250 RT LE, and Ducati Multistrada V4S with only the first of those selling more than the Tiger 900 GT Pro (12th overall).
As you might expect, Honda and Yamaha are the best selling makes for the first half of 2021 because of the 125cc machines with BMW taking third spot in front of Triumph in fourth. Take away the 125cc machines and both Yamaha and Honda drop below Triumph.
However when you look at machine sales over 125cc in the second quarter of 2021 only, Triumph is at the top with a solid increase over most of its range.
